The Olive RestoBar Our New Spot Off the Beaten Path
A restaurant with a downtown vibe without all the pretense. If you live in the LA area you have definitely found yourself sitting in traffic on either the 10 the 101 the 110 the or the 405 patiently or not so patiently waiting to begin your night out. If you’re anything like your Lunch break girls, that night out is going to start with dinner. No matter the final destination, be it a movie at the local cinema for two, bowling with a group of friends, or dancing the night away with your best gal-pals. The night must always start with dinner. And that’s where Downey’s not so hidden gem, The Olive RestoBar comes in.
This spot may not be downtown but it is packed with downtown charm not only is the menu mindfully curated but so is the decor. You will still lavish in the perks of a full bar and artfully hand crafted cocktails add to that their delicious Mediterranean cuisine minus the downtown price and parking hassles. By now I’m sure you’re asking yourself why you haven’t been and I’m wondering the same.
The wait staff is incredibly attentive and the bartenders are live with suggestions for the perfect drink to compliment your meal. As far as what to order I would have to say definitely double up on the appetizers, go for both the Cold Mezza Sampler and the Hot Mezza Sampler even when dining alone (wink wink).
If you aren’t just looking for drinks and appetizers my personal favorite is the Scottish Salmon atop veggies and not just because of my love for Scotland. It was buttery and decadent, it melts in your mouth, I have no doubt you’ll enjoy it. Now for those of you feeling a bit more carnivorous The Grilled Lamb Chops au jus drenched and tender accompanied by portobello mushrooms, sauteed onions and garlic mashed potatoes.
If it’s dinner and a movie or lunch on the patio and cocktails with your best girl friends, Olive RestoBar needs to be on your list of go to spots. Maybe we’ll see you there Καλή όρεξη! (Kalí óreksi!) that’s bon appétit in greek.
